How to Search Embedded Documents
(The 18 ASL-3 Supplemental Vocabulary Lists)
(The 18 ASL-3 Supplemental Vocabulary Lists)
In July 2025, Google introduced a new capability to search a Site for Embedded Documents. We are currently using that capability to allow search for the 900+ ASL-3 Supplemental Vocabulary signs.
Google Search is accessed from the Search Icon (magnifying glass)
Access the search bar: At the top right of the page, click the Search icon.
Enter your query: In the search bar, enter the keywords or the file name you want to find.
Note - the default is "Search this site" which will allow you to find any supported sign from ASL-1, ASL-2 and from the ASL-3 stories, but currently not the ASL-3 Supplemental Vocabulary (SV).
The result from one sample search is shown (This site), where AFRICA is included in an ASL-1, Week 1 Country Signs.
Note: The default search is always "This Site"
However, if you select "Embedded files", Google will search the 18 Supplemental Vocabulary (SV) spreadsheets to find the sign. In this case, the Sign for AFRICA is also found in SV-3 along with many other Countries, Farm terms and Hospital terms
If you open the Google Sheet, you can see all of the Signs contained in these SV categories, along with a link to the corresponding YouTube Playlist.
Note - these links are directly to YouTube and the 900+ Supplemental Vocabulary signs have not yet been implemented ats separate pages into the ASLJesusSigns.org website.
